MINIMALISTS in LANVIN

Richie Hawtin and Jeff Mills, living legends of club music history, in the front row in Lanvin of 2011 SS.
They both seem keen on fashion as well, Richie Hawtin has his own fashion label, Richly Hawtin, and Jeff Mills run his shop, Gamma Player, in Chicago.
I would think it's weird they were there if it was a few season before, but now I think they really fit current mood of Lanvin, actually.

By the way, what is minimal? What does it mean exactly?
If excluding unnecessary things and keeping something minimum mean minimal, who can decide what is necessary or unnecessary?
If typical unnecessary things is essential for somebody, can they be said as minimal?
If so, everything can be minimal, because all creators will be creating their works considering there's no extra parts in their finished works.
There seem some typical, common images of what minimal things should be...even if some of them are not minimum at all...
Besides I think too many people and things are trying to be minimal, or our image of minimal...
I don't hate so called minimal things, rather I like it, but I feel the tendency is boring and I still wonder what minimal is in the true meaning.

LANVIN AFTER ALL

LANVIN MEN'S 2011 SPRING SUMMER

To be honest with you, I got a bit disappointed when I saw the collection first because I really love Lanvin and always have too much expectations.
I think Lanvin has changed dramatically since the last collection, and it became something like dark, stoic, mininal, futuristic and technology...
but it has never lost its street-minded chic of course and actually I really like the last collection.
This time, however, I was not so impressed by the collection at first.
Maybe because of earthy colours and less street atmosphere, the styles looked a bit like other different labels.
Nevertheless! the more precisely I watched pics including detailed ones, more impressive it became gradually.
Particularly sleeveless long jackets and layered accessories around necks rocked me.
Overall, I feel it's chic but has rebel's or punk atmosphere at the same time..... love it after all!

Then see the backs

"There has been more and more liberation, you know about sexuality, gender, taking care of yourself but I think that men's fashion itself doesn't make those big steps .... The open back is a way of making suggestions about new options, a new kind of feeling, new things to think about." - Simons (source: ABC News)

15 years have already passed since Raf Simons started the revolution of men's fashion.
This is a kind of anniversary collection so there are many looks referring to his own previous achieves, such as sleeveless jacket and shirt with buggy trousers, and the overall atmosphere is very very RAF SIMONS.
I feel masculinity, I'm not meaning the typical or traditional ones, but I really feel some kinds of mens' power.
The remarkable points will be the back zip details, which represent more and more liberation of men's fashion quietly.
Well, the back styles of Jil Sander are also impressive.
Besides, Simons quotes hospital scrub for some looks as well as Prada.
Then I quite like the styles using white skirts, with white jackets.
I like this collection but it has a bit retrospective atmosphere so for the next time I really l look forward to see his super conceptual collection which put men more forward.
